Shalom Children's Home was built to replace the crumbling mud-brick buiding in 2009. It houses about 25 children in 4 rooms and serves as the office for the ministry and support center for the youth of the town.
Within the fence, there is a store house used as extra space for special events and a small house for the house parents who are Rainbow Mike and his wife.
The greening of the property is an ongoing process and great strides have been made since its construction. Many of the green vegetables for a balanced diet are grown on the property as well as maize, which requires more water than the local sorgum. Fruit trees have been planted recently and they hope to get a small harvest soon!
