Recently a mission team from UK came for a visit. They gave clothes, soccer uniforms, dolls to the children, and spoke to them about Jesus.

It was a big challange for them to see how people are surviving in the tough living conditions of karamoja. It was also like a big suprise to them to see children from 0 – 12 years walking around naked which is mostly due to poverty because their parents are not able to afford to buy clothes for their children.

They also appreciated our ministry and the help that we are giving to the children and adults.

Rainbow Mike says “I am very greatful to God for what he is doing for the people of Kotido.”

Please pray for Rainbow Mike because we recently recieved word that he is ill with Malaria.

I thought there was no longer no life or future for me, I was crying every night for my self and my brothers this was because 3 of my brothers finished primary level and all ended there because there is no one to pay for them, My mother died without telling any of us who our father is and this is the reason why we are all living seperately from each other, I am living with some family who used to be our neighbour before my mom died. I even do not know very clearly which tribe I belong to from Uganda but I know one thing that iam a Ugandan by nationality and a child of God. For my side God has help me and iam very happy to be at secondary school, I still feel bad about my older brother because he has turn up to drinking alcohol now due to frustration of life. I am very happy for the sponsorship I am receiving because it has given me hope for the future and for life, I would like to read hard and continue up to where shalom will end with me, I pray that God help me so that I finished my education and when I finished I would like to help my brothers who have now given up with education , others are now on street.

I have learnt that God is with me even though had a very hard time, iam happy he has also provided me a place to leave, they do not treat me so well but I humble my self and except my situation , iam praying that God provide me another place ( home ) where I can be accepted and supported with basic needs like what shalom is doing, iam also praying that God help me to know my father wheather he is dead or alive

God, help the orphans, needy and the poor…

Suprisingly he just told me that he had wanted to see me today, there and then he gave me the letter authourising me to go and get the boy out of the police costody and the boy was given to me at 2:00pm. It was just as i was shown in the dream when the boy was given to me ,so it has come to pass. I was almost begining to doubt. I really thank God so much for answering our prayer for Jeremiah and i am so happy.

He is already at shalom home and under my care as the foster parent. Will be spending some good time to counsel him, pray with him and preparing his mind for school life before he can start this week or next week. The school began today and most of the children are already reporting.

It took almost 6 months to put the word out and collect enough money for beginning the fencing around the Shalom Home property but it is finally happening. This week they are finishing one side of the property, including the football pitch and hope to have everying completed by the end of the month.

The fencing is part of a 2-3 stage process to try and finish the building up to the standards required by the Ugandan Government for Children’s Homes. The next stage will be to finish the rest of building to serve as a center and home for the children on the streets.

This fence represents much more to the children and Rainbow Mike than just security fencing–it also speaks to them about how God wants to take care of the them and give them His security.

by Carly Schrader

“And my blessings are for the Gentiles, too, when they commit themselves to the way of the Lord. Do not let them think I consider them second-class citizens. And my blessings are for the eunuchs as well. They are as much mine as anyone else.” – Isaiah 56:3
I love it when God speaks! What an incredible gift He has given us in the fact that He chooses to speak through us, His people. Much like Isaiah was hearing these words from the Lord for the Gentiles and the eunuchs of old—I believe that this word is for today, and for the people of Karamoja.

As I was praying a few weeks ago for Karamoja, God impressed this verse on my heart. As I read it, this is what God showed me: “And my blessings are for the people of Karamoja, too, when they commit themselves to the way of the Lord. Do not let them think I consider them second-class citizens. And my blessings are for the children and youth as well. They are as much mine as anyone else.”

I believe that what the Lord is saying to the people of Karamoja is this: “I am your Good Father, and you are so much more than second-class citizens to me! You are my children, who I love and who I desire to bless. Come, and receive My love. Commit yourselves to Me and together, we will be a family.”
